LONDON (AFP) - Ivory Coast defender Kolo Toure on Tuesday completed his move to Liverpool on a free transfer from English Premier League rivals Manchester City, the Merseyside club announced.
The centre-back's contract with City expired on Monday and the 32-year-old, whose move had been planned for some time, completed the formalities when the new transfer window opened.

Football: Liverpool sells Shelvey to Swansea for £5m

LIVERPOOL (AP) - Liverpool Football Club has sold England midfielder Jonjo Shelvey to fellow Premier League side Swansea for £5 million (S$9.6 million).
The 21-year-old Shelvey spent three years at Anfield following his move from Charlton but was never a first-team regular.
He did, though, make his senior England debut last year during a 5-0 win over San Marino in a 2014 World Cup qualifier.

LONDON (AFP) - Sunderland on Wednesday announced the signing of Italian goalkeeper Vito Mannone from England Premier League rivals Arsenal.

The 25-year-old, a former Italy Under-21 international, has signed a two-year contract at the Stadium of Light and cost Sunderland an undisclosed transfer fee reported to be around £2 million (S$3.85 million).

Sunderland sold first-choice goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to Liverpool last month and Mannone is expected to provide cover for Republic of Ireland international Keiren Westwood.

The Black Cats' manager Paolo di Canio has already been busy in the transfer window, with Valentin Roberge, Modibo Diakite, Cabral, David Moberg Karlsson and Duncan Watmore having all joined the club since the end of last season.

LONDON (AFP) - Everton manager Roberto Martinez sealed his fourth signing in the space of three days as Barcelona teenager Gerard Deulofeu joined the Premier League club on a season-long loan on Wednesday.

Deulofeu scored 18 times in 33 matches for Barcelona's B side last season and also made a handful of substitute appearances for the Spanish champions.

The 19-year-old was rewarded with a long-term contract earlier in the close-season, but Barca are willing to loan him to Everton in a bid to further his development.

Martinez has moved quickly to secure the teenager's services, making his fourth signing after previously raiding his former club Wigan for striker Arouna Kone and defender Antolin Alcaraz, as well as landing Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Joel Robles, who was on loan with the Latics last season.

Football: Swansea breaks club record in signing Wilfried Bony for S$23 million

    [IMG][IMG]

LONDON (Reuters) - Swansea City signed striker Wilfried Bony from Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem on Thursday in a club-record 12 million pounds (S$23 million) transfer.

Swansea confirmed on their website that the Ivory Coast international had signed a four-year deal that smashed the club record £5.5 million they paid Valencia for Pablo Hernandez last year.

The 24-year-old was top scorer in the Dutch League last season with 31 goals and his arrival is a big statement of intent for the Welsh club, who will play in the Europa League this season after winning the League Cup, their first major honour.

Swansea, who finished ninth in the Premier League under the management of Michael Laudrup last season, have kept a tight rein on finances in the past and had not spent more than a million pounds on a player until three years ago.

Football: Giaccherini leaves Juve for Sunderland

ROME: Italian international midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini on Thursday joined English Premier League side Sunderland in a nine million euro deal from Serie A champions Juventus, the Italian club's coach Antonio Conte said.
"I'm not happy about Giaccherini's departure but with this nine million euros we can take Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente," said Conte in reference to funding the deals for the club's two high-profile new strikers.
Giaccherini rarely figured last season for Juventus but was part of the Italy squad at the Confederations Cup where he scored twice.
The 28-year-old will link-up with fellow Italian, Paolo Di Canio, the coach of Sunderland.
Meanwhile, Juventus have signed 25-year-old international central defender Angelo Ogbonna from Turin rivals Torino for a fee reported to be in the region of 15 million euros.
